A 5–6 ft block wall, plastered, along the plot's boundary. Less where a neighbour's wall is shared.

How to compare two quotes

Two rates per sft are only comparable when they include the same things. Ask every builder these, and check our answers above.

01Is GST included in the rate, or added on top?
02Which grade of steel and cement, and which brands?
03What are the allowances for tiles, doors, windows and bathroom fittings, and who pays above them?
04Are the sump, overhead tank, compound wall and lift in the rate?
05How deep a foundation does the rate cover?
06What is left out: approvals, utility connections, interiors?
07What is the floor-to-floor height?

The covered floor area of every level, measured to the outside of the walls, plus the staircase room on the terrace. The rate per sft is multiplied by it; the cost calculator estimates it from your plot and floors.

Yes. The rates include GST.

No. They are our published rates, and the calculator's figures are estimates from them. The final quote follows a site visit, the soil and the approved plan.

The amount included in the rate for an item such as floor tiles or a door. If you choose something costlier, you pay the difference.
